Alta Ski Area, UT, is clocking in this morning with 540" of snow on the season.

Meteorologist Matthew Johnson posted to X (twitter) that if Alta reaches 600 inches of snowfall this season, this would mark the first back-to-back 600" season in 15 years!

Last year, Alta got 903 inches of snowfall. While this year is not nearing close to that total, it is still rare for the resort to receive over 500 inches in a season.

Alta's seasonal average for snowfall is 388 inches.

Someone asked in the comments below the post if this was a prediction of what is to come for the Utah ski resort.

Matthew replied, "Most definitely is! At least 40" of cumulative snowfall expected within the next 10 days."

Specifically, Alta is predicted to see 7 inches of expected snowfall on Thursday, an inch on Friday, and 8 inches on Saturday.

No matter if Alta hits this record or not, it was an above average season for snow at the resort, and Utah skiers still have more to look forward to in the near future.
